L'Ormarins Queens Plate 2013

This year was my first year at the L'Ormarins Queens Plate and I was lucky enough to do an outside broadcast from the actual event. So first things first, what was I going to wear??? I had not prepared at all, I couldn't just wear something average, I was going to interview two of my favorite designers!!! So after searching high and low with no success, the night before the actual event I decided with only a few precious hours left to make myself a dress - I know lunacy! I started at 5pm and by 9pm realized I had created a beautiful bodice - for a Bride!!!! I unpicked all the delicately hand stitched white lace and started again and this is what transpired.

         Inspiration and translation...

Because the front was pure layered tule, Libi my wonderful house mate made me a pair of matching midnight blue hot pants to wear under neath - Thank You Lib!

When it comes to fascinators I believe they should be elegant and add to your overall look, I really loved mine :-)

All in all not a terrible job, honestly I wasn't completely happy with the skirt but with only one night to create an entire dress it wasn't half bad.
The who's who were seen in their beautiful and brilliant, classic and classy, blue's whites and combo's

Winners of the best dressed looked so elegant and feminine
- Congrats Ladies!
The winner Ritza van Rensburg (centre) was styled by LUXO, in a Staci van Rooi design they certainly did a good job of channelling a modern day "Jackie O" with the vintage sunglasses and hair by Marios Hair.
Me, Lauren and her gorgeous cousin Claire

My DJ booth for the day...
Visitors from The Little Hattery’s Kerry Hillier and Dominik Marszalek.

·       Malcolm Kluk, Christiaan du Toit of KLûK CGDT

And my lovely friend Chris, who so kindly controlled all sound for the day - Thank You again Chris, you really rocked it!

Last Years best dressed winner Darielle, looked fab again this year
- the girl has obviously got taste!

Amy having her five minutes of fame - such fun!
(me and my big mouth)
On an outside broadcast everyone needs a little blue bird that kept the tweets tweeting and info flowing...
Enter Super Baz!!!!
He was amazing help and fun to have with me for the day
(only in truth, he's not so little, he's actually reeeeaaaaalllllllly tall!)

·         Wayne a representative from the Franschhoek Motor Museum chatted about their brilliant display

A few of the Winners of the L'Ormarins bubbly give away

I think there was bubbly on the camera - woops!
Bee Diamondhead, Fumi May, Me and Jolize Aschmann - all looking amazing! Bee LOVED the roses!!!

Congratulations to everyone involved in putting together this marvelous event, congrat's to the winners and a very big thank you to the organizers, to all my guests and of course to Chris and Sebastian for being such fantastic support and helping me make it happen, it was a fantastic day and I look forward to doing it all again next year.

Getting inked...The Cape Town International Tattoo Convention

I promised myself a tattoo when my third film hit the big screen and although it has not been released yet, we did have a screening of 'The Good Man' this friday evening at The Labia Theatre in Cape Town. So its time to put on my big girl panties and seriously question "to Ink or not to Ink" or rather "What to Ink". So a visit to The International Tattoo Convention in Cape Town was most definately in order and oh so much fun...
My favorite artist Laura Juan...
I was just completely blown away at her exquisite skill
There were so many brilliant artists, local and international
for every type of person, for every taste, shape and size,
as well as many interesting people...
although brilliantly done some were scary...
Some where beautiful....
So sweet to see support through the pain...

There was also the option of colouring your hair, lips,
eye lids, lashes and more....
This lady had been going for five hours and was about half way there, I asked if she was ok and she replied that the pain gets worse with every minute, that did not help my nerves...

There was serious old school, no gun, no electricity, needle and ink...
Time to shop :-)

I love hearts, definitely would love one of these to add to my heart wall
(Yes, I am creating a wall of hearts in my home)

 Enter the gallery...
I realized that this culture is made up of individuals that recognize that as human beings we have the ability to be living breathing works of art, they very bravely "create" themselves in an extremely visual way.
Vintage Levi's
I didn't have enough time to see and do everything I wanted to, so I will try and pop back tomorrow but, if you love the tattoo culture or are curious about it, then head down to City Hall in Cape town, it is so worth while and the talent will blow you away.
Being a chameleon and someone who is ever changing and discovering new things about myself and at such a constant speed that honestly, I feel scared and very hesitant to add any imagery onto my skin, I could get sick of it, or realize its not really me - I mean this is permanent ink after all!
But that said, there are words that will never change, that I want within me and my life always... so yes, I think I am really close to making the final decision, whatever I do will be feminine, delicate and discrete and now
I just need to find the right artist for me...
A very big Thank You and Congratulations to Allan on an awesome convention
Definitely worth a visit, or two!
