Thoughts about Sex...(please be advised this post is not for kids!)

http://www.ngnewspapers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/man-and-dead-woman.jpg
On a daily basis I am confronted by various people and their perceptions on the importance, sanctity or value of sex. We live in a day and age where it often feels like a "Beatles free love recital", everyone seems to be "sharing the love" and I don't mean from an emotional point of view, I mean sexually.

Sorry, I had to! I mean what the what??? This must be set up as a joke right?
Too many people today seem to value the importance of a kiss on the same level as that of a handshake, and the value and importance of sex, now seems to holds the value of a kiss....Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sex; one of the hardest parts of being single is not having "sex on tap" (which I pretty much had until last year and boy have I been feeling the drought!)

So I completely and utterly understand the need, desire and want. Sex is fantastic, all the different kinds should be had; deep passionate love, crazy wild hot sex, quickies that just cant wait (and get you in trouble for being late again), marathon sex, lazy sex, angry sex, hang over sex, I was with my ex for a Looooooong time, trust me we covered it all many, many times. But he was the love of my life and I cant help but acknowledge the one big difference of how it feels when you actually love the one you're with…
I don't even know what that means exactly... mmm... blush!
Yes, sex is a physical and sometimes you just need that physical fix, sex can be “just for fun” and that’s fine, it’s healthy, its great! But so many seem to be denying that sex holds value; Sex has been diminished to some kind of fun common activitie that you should experience with all your friends and their friends and cousins, aunts uncles, etc. So many woman say they are ok with not being called the next day, every one of them that I know at some point has a twang of rejection. Yes, some brush it off, some collect it deep inside, but the pang of rejection happens, be it slight or earth shattering, there is no denying it has been felt. And if there is denying it soberly, then a chardonnay confession often creeps in.
A lovely friend of mine once said: "In a relationship, men need sex to feel loved and woman need to feel loved to want sex" yes there are exceptions with all the gender role reversals we see more and more today, but essentially, our masculine side needs sex, physical touch, to feel loved and our feminine side needs to feel loved to want to touch, cuddle and have sex. Sex is one of the essential ways in which we communicate love (in an incredibly fun, feel good, powerful way).
Sex is also one of the most intimate things a man and woman can share, because it is the very action that creates life. And when a child is created by two individuals, it bind's three souls together for a life time, whether they like it or not, they will be linked...
So make sure you want your kid to have "his" "sexy jaw line that comes with his need to be right, pain in the ass attitude and low IQ" and "her" "bodacious bosoms that come with her laziness and Princess attitude!" (sorry those were the first things that popped into my head, but you get my point - aim high!)
Many people today have forgotten this fact, it seems to have evaporated with the modern day contraceptive cushioning the conscience, so the creation of life as a result of a drunken night of fun, is no longer a concern and if theres a woops well abortion is readily available too! It just seems a bit nuts to me... and yes, of course “practice makes perfect” and you shouldn’t buy a vehicle until you’ve “test driven it” a few times, but that doesn’t mean you should “practice test driving all the vehicles”… or should you? You guys still with me? I hope so…
Yes, this could happen to you!
I’m not saying don’t have sex, You should have sex as often as possible, (perhaps preferably with the same partner) even if you are not in the mood, just do it, because you will remember quite quickly, how much fun it actually is! I’m just saying, be fully aware and conscious of what you are actually doing and how it is truly effecting you…

I say all of this with no judgment at all, I have always believed that each individual should live within their truth and that their conscience will guide them, it is just that I am questioning whether we are even aware of what our conscience is trying to tell us anymore… do we even care? And if we don’t, what does that mean ten years from now? Has everything just become so overexposed that we have become numb and blind to certain realities because its easier to live without your conscience's constant blabbering ... Is sex really meaningless? Personally, I think not…

I would love to hear your thoughts and feelings, what do you all actually think and feel? Am I alone in my train of thinking? Do I make sense? Perhaps I am just a hopeless romantic who knows, maybe I am living in la la land, I don't know... but its been on my mind so I thought I would share it with you...

If you love someone, learn to speak their language... The 5 love Languages

If you love someone don't set them free, learn to speak their love language and they'll be yours forever. Every single human being gives and receives love in different ways, I found a fantastic series of books that simplifies these love languages in five basic ways, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

Look up the 5 love languages, buy the book and read it and then find out what the love language is of every single person you love is and then speak to them in that language, the difference in your relationship will be astounding...

The thing I found quite interesting is that we tend to love in our own
love language and the simple understanding of the love languages
enables you to make the people in your life feel loved and cared
for more intensely than ever before.  And in tern if they learn
them too, your cup could truly runneth over.

So read, put into practice love and enjoy!

What do Marilyn Monroe, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Pink have in common.

They are all natural brunettes, they were all told they would not make it by someone, they all told that person they would prove them wrong, they were all born plain and with full intention and clear vision purposefully grew into incredibly unique beautiful, powerful woman!
Here is a little bit of their wisdom, learn from them, no one defines you, only you can decide who you will become and although the road is sometimes harsh and lonely you must follow your dreams, live within your truth or you may never know the possibilities that may exist in your future.
“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”
― Marilyn Monroe

“Deep in my heart I’m concealing things that I’m longing to say. Scared to confess what I’m feeling - frightened you’ll slip away.

Madonna.

I remember putting on that first red lipstick and being like ‘That’s the shit right there.’
Gwen Stefani
“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore.”
― Lady Gaga
"You cannot amputate your history from your destiny, because that is redemption."

Meeting MC Hammer and his interview

Yes you guessed it, that is me standing next to MC Hammer!
Can you believe it? I was supper excited when I found out from Andrew Human (CEO of The Loeries Awards) that our MC for the sunday night final Loerie Awards was none other than the King, the Innovator and founder of the Pop Rap movement MC Hammer.
I think I still remember 90% of the lyric's in his songs and boy did I love his songs, he took the world by storm with songs like "Too Legit to Quit",  "U Cant Touch This" "Have you seen her" and as I sat and chatted to him I could see why. He is extremely confident and self assured, living with the absolute knowing that he, MC Hammer is a 'Creator'.
His life to this point has been incredibly rich and filled
with gifts and wonderful experiences and he continues to
positively effect people through his work on a daily basis.
Many people asked me to ask him questions like, did he have regrets, did he miss being a performer, etc, etc, its amazing how much he has actually done in the last couple of years. Its crazy, in the entertainment industry, if you are not physically right now doing something in a massive spot light, people say: "That person used to be..." an actor or singer or performer or musician.
Pic from: http://imc.tv/518668/mc-hammer-rocks-the-indiana-state-fair/
But the reality is, entertainers are those things for their entire lives, not just a moment of there lives. It takes years and months of preparation, learning, creating behind the scenes to have something that they want to share with the world and when they do, it may be in a "grand" way or on a smaller scale. It doesn't mean it hasn't been going on all along... you've just been exposed to the magic and forgotten how much work and dedication it took to create that magic in the first place.

But when it comes to Hammer, he has been full steam ahead in various roles in various capacities for his entire life, both in and out of the lime light.

A few interesting facts about MC Hammer:
1. His name is Stanley Kirk Burrell  and he was born on March 30th, 1962
2. MC Hammer is a record label CEO
Pic from: http://coolspotters.com/musicians/mc-hammer
3. He is a preachers, yip you heard me!
Pic from: http://cdn.tss.uproxx.com/TSS/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/mc-hammer-2-540x303.jpg
 4. He was a television show host and dance judge, as well as one of the co-creator's of a dance website called DanceJam.com

 5. He is the first hip hop artist to achieve Diamond Status for album sales
Pic from: http://wn.com/the_genius_of_mc_hammer
And while he did all this, he continued to perform in various projects and concerts, plus assisting others with Social Media, his Ministry, various business ventures and numerous out reach programs and functions. He was also an Executive Producer of his own Reality Show called "Hammer Time" which aired in the summer of 2009.

All in all Hammer is a cool dude who is living his dream while making a difference and you have got to respect that, there are very few people who have managed to meet all their hero's and make hundreds of their wishes come true. I wish him all the best in everything that he does
and it was a great pleasure to meet him.

Good Work, Good Housekeeping and Flora, what a day!

Gorgeous Gal's,
(
Our lovely MC for the day, Liezel van der Westhuizen, Me, the ever beautiful Kerishnie Naiker, and Good Housekeeping's Carmen Clegg).
Lovely Friends,
(Miss Fabulous Natasha Clark)
and Inspirational Woman!
(Me and
and Jane Raphaely, the Managing Director for Associated Media Publishing. I have to brag - sorry but it must be done - When I saw her at The Loeries, she said I was wearing the best dress she had seen!!! AAaaannnddd, why this was so huge was because I was wearing the dress I made!!! I felt so deeply flattered).
(Sorry I couldn't help myself, I was beaming with pride!
Me with Andrew Human - I'm wearing my dress and a pair of hot Steve Madden heels)

Yip, these ladies are just a few of the fab guests who surrounded me last week on friday when I attended the

What Is Think Red?
While HIV/AIDS and cancer loom large on South Africans’ awareness radar, most people give little thought to the world’s number one killer:
Cardiovascular disease (CVD).
(Did you guys know that? I didn't! So scary!)
To show that no-one is immune, the Heart and Stroke Foundation SA (HSFSA) together with Unilever has launched a hard-hitting new awareness campaign, Think Red. This day was all about raising awareness - and it worked!

As I arrived I was greeted with large friendly smiles, fresh strawberry juice and hands that waved me into a room where my boots where removed and my BMI was promptly worked out (I'm all good - shew!) Tash found me bare foot negotiating half a centimeter of hight that I knew was mine and should count towards my BMI, right? When you are my height every millimeter counts!
And then we were off to the Clarin's corner.
Tash (Real name: Natasha Clark) looked so cute in her little red number and black leggings
For some reason me and the make-up artists couldn't stop laughing,
we were in stitches!
The lovely people at the Vital stand not only gave me fantastic nutritional information but they even let me be a brat and baby sat my hand bag under their table while I took a few pic's - Thanks Guys!
The dining hall just looked gorgeous, a gold shell filled with white and red - lovely.
Loved the centre pieces and table decor
How Yummy does my salad look? And it was!
HSFSA CEO Dr Vash Mungal-Singh spoke to us all about the severity of the situation.
Sorry but you need to know This!

Can you believe that every year cardiovascular disease kills 2.5 times as many people as do all cancers combined!!! That is a shocking and disturbing fact, that means it is now the biggest single killer-disease worldwide.

*THE GOOD NEWS*
80% of these deaths are preventable with diet and lifestyle changes.
(Ok on with the happy stuff)
Kerishnie Naiker, Shan Biesman-Simons, Stan Henkeman and Liezel van der Westhuizen, discussed the importance of living a heart-healthy life and spoke from the heart about their personal experiences and how they had been affected by the disease.
Yum, Yum, Yum!
There was a cook off!Table Bay chef Jocelyn Myers and MasterChef SA finalist Sarel Loots showed guests how easy it is to prepare heart-healthy meals that the whole family will enjoy and what they made looked delicious!

Yip that last one is carrot cake!
And then it was time for dessert.
Me and Celebrity Cheff and MasterChef SA finalist Sarel Loots

I Love this Idea!!!
You can donate your heart beats!!!
Flora is collecting heart beats and for each beat a donation is made on your behalf to upgrade cardiac facilities in SA, which could save someones life. So do it, it takes two minutes and its for an excellent cause

http://www.facebook.com/florastrongheart/app_317528101658235

All in all it was an amazing day, I left with a full stomach, full heart and very full hands! We received an incredible goodie bag filled with delicious and healthy treats - so delicious and exciting that I tucked right in and forgot to get a photo - sorry!
We also received a limited edition 1,2kg value pack at the Flora Heart stand - I literally needed help getting to my car, I couldn't carry everything, because I also...
WON! I WON! I WON!
Le Creuset hamper worth R4000!
Its the first thing I have won in a long time and I love them!
Thank You for picking number 24 in the raffle!
The Good Housekeeping/Goeie Huishouding team in their red outfitsWell Done! The whole day was just wonderful!

Ok sorry this shouldn't be part of this blog I guess but while I was on the GoodHousekeeping website I came across it and well, when most people enter a competition they don't tell their friends because they want to win the prize themselves, right? Well I am not most people and although I definitely want to win this competition - AMAZING - Its too good to keep to myself! So follow the link below and You Could win...

If one of you win because you followed the link from my page, please can I be your plus 1? Pretty please! If that actually comes true, it would make an amazing blog ;-D
Thank you again so much to JL, Associated Media Publishing, Good Housekeeping, Flora, together with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa (and Tash for being my other half at the event and to all the gorgeous girls - so good seeing you all) I really had such a wonderful day, I felt truly spoilt and definitely learnt a lot about the frightening facts we are all faced with. Please arm yourselves with knowledge and check out their site it has loads of interesting articles and interesting tips.
JL I think your Red sweater looked gorgeous!

Ok I have to run, stay happy and healthy and I will be back soon!
