Dearest Freinds
I woke up this morning with a strong message in my mind, I needed to call today's message: Acknowledge, Celebrate & Share. So often we go through life without acknowledging our accomplishments, we forget to celebrate our achievements and we don't even bother sharing them with a friend. Yet these three things are integral keys to cultivating our happiness.
Recognising and honouring ourselves for how far we have come builds up our sense of value and self-worth, thus increasing our appreciation of ourselves and our self-love.
Doing something no matter how big or small to celebrate our achievements creates an energy vibration of joy and achievement which intern attracts more joy and more achievements.
And finally sharing our achievements with another allows for someone other than ourselves to share in the joy, multiplying the energy exponentially.
So, being a huge advocate of doing things that scare me as often as possible and I am not talking about crazy harmful things but rather things that scare you because they take you out of your comfort zone and force you to grow or expand in some way. You know what I mean? Have you done anything like that lately?
Well, in my ever continueing quest to better myself and become the best speaker I could become I decided it was time for some critical feedback, so I joined TedToasted (which is South Africa's TedTalks connected to Toastmasters). Two things about this petrified me. Number 1, I was going to have to stand up in front of other speakers who did this for a living and get honest feedback on what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong. And two, in the past, I couldn't handle "feedback" never mind "constructive criticism". But realizing it that the universe has led me to a place where my life's work is to be a teacher and knowing that if I am going to be a teacher I want to serve you as best as I can, I took on the challenge.
I actually joined last year but due to all the traveling I have been doing I hadn't been able to attend any of the meetings until last night, Monday the 16th of January. I must admit I was very nervous and the only level one speaker of the evening, the goal was to do a 4-6 minute speech which introduced me to the audience as well as throwing in the word "disruption" for extra points (we were told this seconds before I went on to speak). My speech was entitled "Self-love, the gold that glues us back together." It is inspired by one of my favourite sculpture by Paige Bradley, called Expansion and the Japanese art of Kintsukuroi.
I did what I always do, I said a prayer before going on, asking the universe to assist me in connecting with my audience, in finding the right words, humour and phrases to move them emotionally and touch their hearts so that they can gain something from the experience. And then I went on and spoke from my heart... knees shaking with nerves and I certainly didn't expect this to happen...
I was surprised, humbled and excited when they announced I had been voted best speaker for the night and so I thought I would share it with you, in the hope's that something in my speech can serve you as it did the listeners last night. I don't want to give too much aways so simply click on the picture below to watch the recording.

What I learnt from the experience was that I looked much calmer than I felt, honestly I was shaking like a leaf! I also remembered that simply doing anything from a place of love and service brings out the very best in you. And finally, when the universe guides onto your path and you listen, I abundantly reinforces and celebrates that you are going in the right direction and so should you.
Exercise for the week:
What have you done lately that deserves to be acknowledged, celebrated and shared? Pick at least one thing and if you don't feel like you have anyone to share it with, please share it with me, I would love to celebrate your success.
I hope that this inspires you to acknowledge, celebrate and share more, more often and that you honour your uniqueness and adorn it in the gold it deserves. I thank you so much for your on going support and wish you a self-love filled week.
I'd really love to hear your comments on this email and what you found most helpful, so please do send me feedback. Your comments will help me continue to create and curate content that's truly relevant and important to you.
Sending you loads of love, light and happiness with wishes for an abundant and joyful week ahead, bye for now!
Love
